My Lex

My Lexsi is amazing.  She's just about the funniest person on the planet, and always keeps me on my toes!  I haven't blogged about her for a while, so I have about a million pictures to post!

I found her in the basement reading books in her fairy wings.  Totally just a typical day with her!

Playing at the park in Lovell:

She helped me make pizza at Mammie and Papi's house, and she is seriously a great helper!  She helped spread out the dough, sauce and cheese, and even laid all the pepperoni out with no help from me!

Snuggling Daddy:

Visiting the fire hall in Lovell:

We went to an Activity Days day camp and she was in heaven playing with those girls all day!  She fell asleep within 5 minutes of getting in the car.

We went to the county fair, and she loved seeing all the animals!

Lex and Kate at a wedding reception:

When I saw the picture above, I thought, "Holy moly!  She's a carbon copy of her dad!"  So I found a picture from when he was young and put them side by side.  He has a longer face, but their eyes are identical!

And THEN... I found a picture of Keesha (who is pretty much the female version of DJ), and my mind was a little bit blown.  I'm pretty sure Lex got 0% of my genes!

One day Lex and I were watching a movie and eating chips and pretty soon she took the entire can and went to town on them!

Just strolling down Main Street talking on her princess cell phone.  This girl...

She decided to brave the tall monkey bars at the park.  It scared me a little but I let her go for it!

One day someone left this gift on our porch-- the cutest skinny jeans and a Frozen sweatshirt.  Lex was in heaven!  We still don't know who it's from, but these are some of her favorite clothes.

Eating a candy necklace in the car... and it looks like maybe she had been crying before that?  I don't know.  But this girl is a total sweet tooth, so you can always bribe her with candy!

One of Lexsi's jobs is unloading the dishwasher.  She stands on the counter and I hand her dishes to put away.  She loves it, and I love that it's teaching her to work!

Here she is on Temple Square-- she loves coming here so much and "seeing Jesus."

One day when I was getting ready Lex came in exclaiming, "Look at my hands!"  She had gotten into the food coloring and was so proud of herself!

Having a horsey ride on Mia-- cause she's crazy like that.

She's just adorable!

Lex went with me to a Stake primary activity at the Tabernacle, and the stake leaders gave her this little temple plaque.  She thinks it's awesome!  She loves the temple so much, and regularly tells me that the Brigham City Temple is "her" temple, and she's going to get married there.  I can't even explain how much I love that she already has that goal!

At a park in Logan!

Brushing teeth with Mia:

At the Bean Museum-- which she loves so much!

She potty trained one day.  She totally got it down!  She went on the toilet lots of times and it was awesome.  The next day she peed on the floor a bunch of times and not a single time in the toilet.  She didn't seem to care at all that she was having accidents.  Eventually that day she cried and said she wanted a diaper again.  I gave in, cause I didn't feel like pushing potty training would be helpful at this point.  Hopefully one of these days she'll want to it again (for real this time!)

Snuggling in Mama's bed-- one of her favorite things to do!

Typical Lex-- outside on the trampoline in a princess dress!

I turned around one day to see her like this and nearly died laughing.  If you've ever seen Multiplicity, you'll totally understand why!

I took Lex to Disney on Ice and she LOVED it!  You can't tell from the pictures, but that's just cause she was so entranced that she couldn't possibly look away.  I thought it was a little long, but she cried when it was over.  Hopefully we can go again!

One of my latest tricks-- putting small toys in egg cartons.  She loves to take them all out, line them up, then put each one back in its own section.  Simple pleasures!

Lexsi is an absolute joy!  Really, my life would be pretty lame with out my smart, sassy girl!  She's a great big sister, an awesome helper, and so so funny!  She's one of my best friends and I adore her.

Family Pictures

In October, I decided it was time to update our family pictures.  I was going to have my photographer friend Amberly do them for us, but I was too impatient so I just went to the park and did a quick photo shoot with my phone and a tripod.  They're clearly not the best quality I ever could have gotten, but they totally work for me!  And by the way... I have a very attractive family!!!

Mia Mae-- One Year Old!

I can't believe my baby is a year old-- and that she has been for nearly two months now!  Time is moving far too quickly.  A few days before her birthday, I made Mia a smash cake and took her outside to eat it.

She was a little hesitant to just dig into it, but once we got her a fork she dove right in!  Lex also wanted a piece of the action!

The day of Mia's birthday, DJ was driving down to Saint George with his golf team for the state tournament.  Since we weren't going to see him for a few days, I took the girls and went to my mom's house to visit.  Here's the last picture I took of Mia the night before she turned a year old:

On her birthday:

We lucked out and DJ stopped at the Orem Wal-Mart on his way down south from Ogden, so we met him there and got to see him for a few minutes.  It was probably the highlight of Mia's birthday!

This was during our stay at my mom's... Mia is just a curious child who gets into pretty much everything!

The Saturday after Mia's birthday, we had a combined party at our house for both her and DJ.  Normally I would have done them separate, but since I live an hour and a half away from the rest of our family and they both had kind of major birthdays this year (1 and 30), we just threw them together into one party!  DJ's siblings and my parents came up, and it was nice to see them all.  We had an ice cream bar instead of cake, cause DJ is not a big cake fan.

Here are Mia's decorations, including a slideshow of her first year of life and pictures from each month of her life with her zebra:

Here are DJ's decorations, with lots of pictures from his life, missionary plaque and his 30 for 30 book I made him!

And here's Mia playing with one of her new birthday presents:

It's crazy to me how fast my little girl is growing up!  Here are some things about her these days:

- She is an awesome eater!  She really eats anything I give her.  She especially loves fruit and vegetables (dream child, right?), with the exception of broccoli.

- She has suddenly become so verbal!  I forgot how fun it is to have a kid who's learning how to talk.  She's a little parrot and it's hilarious!  She recently learned to say "Te amo!"  which is adorable!  Lexsi and I have this thing we do every day-- she asks where Daddy is and I say "At work..." and she exclaims, "BORING!"  Well, today Mia learned the word "boring."  She says, "bo-weee!" She can tell you the sounds that kitties, monkeys, cows and dogs make.  She is learning when to say "please," ("BEE!") and "thank you," ("Gank ooo!").  The other day we were in the car and something beeped, and she suddenly put her hand to her ear like she was holding a phone and exclaimed, "Hola!  Buh-bye!"  She's really smart and has a great vocabulary!

- She is getting close to walking, but isn't there yet.  She WANTS to walk, but not on her own.  Her favorite thing is to hold one of your hands and lead you around the house.  She really could be walking on her own, but she's not confident in herself.  I think it'll happen soon.

- She has the best laugh.  Really.  When she belly laughs, I can hardly even handle it, it's the best sound!  Lexsi is the best at making her laugh really hard.

- She has decided that her dad is the coolest person ever.  Whenever she says, "Daddy!"  it's not just saying his name... she's exclaiming it like there was never a more fun person on the planet.  I love it!

- She has recently decided that books are awesome.  She loves to read!

- She is obsessed with cats.  Obsessed.

Mia is just such a sweet girl!  She's super happy and fun to be around.  I can't imagine life without my tiny sweetheart!
