The Hack

This is not Ashleigh. In fact it is her hacker husband. First of all I want to wish all you mothers out there a happy mother's day. I'm not sure how many people read my wife's blog, but I'm sure it's a lot because she's awesome. I just want to tell you why she's so awesome.
Seven years ago, when I asked my sweet wife to marry me, I didn't know, nor could I have known, just how amazing she would turn out to be.
About 7 years ago, Ashleigh and I had one of those chats that every boyfriend dreads. The DTR otherwise known as "define the relationship". We had been dating for a few months and I suppose she wanted to know where this was headed. I had no idea nor had I even thought about it. She had a good job at the MTC but she had been offered a full time job that offered benefits (something she didn't have working at the MTC). She wanted to know if I would be asking her to marry me sometime in the future to know if she should take the job. I responded with "I don't know". I knew she was hot, and that I liked her a lot, and that was about it. Our talk spurred some deep thinking on my part. I went home and started praying, asking God if Ashleigh would be a good person to marry. Answers didn't come right away so I was left just thinking. My worry, like most young men's was "what if something better comes along". (Relax ladies, I know the error of my thinking now.) I kept praying and it seemed like attractive girls on campus were flocking to me at a much higher than usual rate (my family can attest that this is quite rare for me). Then one day I walked into Ashleigh's apartment and BAM it hit me. I would like to say that what "hit me" was a realization of what an amazing wife and mother this woman would turn out to be, but it wasn't. My first though was "Hot dang, this girl is gorgeous, I need to lock her down ASAP". I'm sure now that, besides Ashleigh actually being beautiful,  the spirit saw the future, saw exactly what kind of amazing mom she would be and knew that the best way to get me to move along in the right direction was to remind me just how attractive she is.
Now for the part that I really want to say. I'm not sure how I got so lucky. I really don't know. At the time I asked her to marry me, I hadn't researched how good of a wife she would be. I knew two things. She was hot and she could cook. That was good enough then, but I got a whole lot more than I could have ever dreamed of. She is the most amazing mother and woman that I have ever met. Like our song says, "I thought I loved you then" (Brad Paisley). But each day that goes by and with each kid she handles and teaches so well, I just come to realize how much more I love her now.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY ASH!!!!

Family Pictures March 2016

February-March Highlights

** At Lexsi's 4-year well check, she weighed 31 pounds (7%)  and was 3ft 1in tall (3%).  She's just as tiny as ever!**

Teaching my cute big girls how to "heater hog" at Grammie's house:

Lexsi's birthday breakfast:

For her birthday, I made Lex a diaper bag with baby clothes, diapers, bibs, etc. for her baby dolls.  Grammie got her a new stroller, booster seat and car seat for her dolls.  She loves them!

All three girls in a single stroller for a walk.. haha!

Lex was sick and I gave her cough syrup, and apparently the red dye in it caused her to break out in hives.  So she was in pretty bad shape for a couple days.  Poor baby girl!

We went to the zoo, and somehow this was the only picture I got of the day.  But the girls really enjoyed their time there!

Pyper still sucks her thumb when she's tired, but it's way funny cause she always wants to be holding something (a blanket, the tag on a toy, etc.) in the same hand of the thumb she sucks:

Playing outside!  This happens for several hours a day as long as it's not rainy!

Just typical Mia... hahah!

I made the girls' Easter dresses this year, but unfortunately I made Pyper's too small!  So she didn't match the other girls on Easter.

We went to Spanish Fork for Easter weekend and I got to go to the General Women's meeting with my Savage fam:

We were staying at Nikki's and I put the girls to bed one of the nights and they were super quiet so I just assumed they were asleep.  Well at about 10:30 they came downstairs, and I was so confused cause Mia was in a swimming suit!  I couldn't stop laughing-- this girl knows how to keep me on my toes!

Breakfast at Nikki's with the cousins:

Cutest girls by the Ogden temple:

Playing at the museum one afternoon:

I got the girls Happy Meals, which is a rare occurrence, and they were so excited!

Lex and Mia had their first dental appointments, and they did so well!  DJ took Lex and I took Mia, so unfortunately I only have pictures from Mia's appointment.

Easter through the years:

Pyper 8-9 Months

Time is flying, and this baby girl is growing up way too quickly!  Here's what's going on in Miss Pyper's life these days:

- At her 9 month appointment, Pyper weighed 15lb 12 oz (15%), was 27.75 inches tall (55%)  and her head circumference is 43.4cm (48%).

- She is still not mobile!  She is perfectly content to sit and watch her sisters play.  Lex in particular is very attentive to her and is constantly bringing her new things to play with and interacting with her while she sits in one spot, so she really hasn't had a need to move around!  If she's on her stomach, she does a little wormy move where you can tell she's trying to learn how to scoot but she just hasn't quite gotten it yet.  She also rolls around really well, and if she's on her tummy she spins around in circles a lot.  I'm sure it won't be long until she's all over the place and into everything, and for now I'm just grateful I don't have to baby proof or put a gate on my stairs yet!

- She makes lots of babbling sounds-- Da, Ga, Ma, Buh, Wuh, Yah

- She tries to say "Woof!" whenever she sees Cosmo.  She usually just yells, "Ah!  Ah!"  and then inserts a few "Wuh! Wuh!'s" in there as well.  It's super cute.

- I feel like she's pretty equally a Mommy and Daddy's girl.  She wants me a lot, especially when she's tired.  But when DJ comes home, she gets incredibly excited, yells, flaps her arms around, etc.  until he comes to pick her up!

- She is the best eater!  She's moved on from baby food to table food, and she just loves everything.  I haven't given her anything yet that she hates.  She generally eats a 1/2 PB&J sandwich every day for lunch.  I feel like I can't keep this girl fed!  Her very favorite is chocolate-- if I ever give it to her she immediately starts saying, "MMMMM!!"  Super cute.

- We've taught Pyper how to sign "more" in ASL.  We tell her "Mas," and she puts her cute little chubby hands together.  I love it.  She's also learning "all done" in ASL.  It's awesome.

- Pyper is kind of terrible at drinking out of sippy cups-- she can only do it when she's laying down.  She just hasn't figured out how far she needs to hold it up and tip her head back while she's sitting up.  But she's a champ of drinking out of straws, so I usually just give her water bottles.

- She is the most content, sweetest baby ever.  She's so happy and easy going!

- In the past month she's gotten her top 2 front teeth, and now she's working on more.

- Her hair is definitely blonde, which thrills me to no end!  She has very dark olive skin like the other girls (she's darker than Mia, more like Lex), and her eyes change daily.  Some days they look brown, some days blue, green, grey, etc.  I'm guessing she'll end up with hazel, or just be cool like me and have eyes that change color!

- She's still wearing 3-6 month clothes for the most part.  She wears 6-9 month dresses so that they're long enough, but all her onesies, shorts and pants are 3-6.  So even thought she's got super cute chubby cheeks and little rolls on her legs, she's still a pretty small girl!

First time eating Spaghetti,  She loved it!

She's super obsessed with her swing.  She'd stay in there all day if I let her!

Just the cutest little face!
